Speedsters!

A student of mine came up with this idea. I really liked it and it motivated me to see it through visually. We talked about it and I placed a few extra characters in the final composition. I'll be adding ink and color to it, digitally. When finished, I'll print my student a copy to treasure for a long time.

Character Concept

Here's a painting of a character idea created by a friend. He provided the details and I created the vision of what this character may look like. I'm still developing my ability to create more of a fine art approach with the comic genre. I find it challenging and exciting to create an illusion of realism.

Classic Mystique

The new X-men movie, Days of Future Past is in theaters. I'm excited to make plans to watch it. The CEO of Divine Authority Comics asked me to design a variant cover for the companies comic.  The character of choice, was Mystique..the Classic Mystique. A perfect preface before going to watch the movie. Below is my process of designing the cover.  First the pencil sketch. Then the inking. Finally, the color is added using Prismacolor markers.

Ram-man

Ram-man is a character from He-man and the Masters of the Universe. My son got this character for his birthday. The new set of He-man figures are detailed. Since I don't have 3-d figures available for me to practice with, I decided to use this action-figure as my model.

Battle Cat

I grew up with He-man and the Masters of the Universe. That was in the 80's. Then in 2002 I saw a new adaptation of He-man. The characters were much the same, but there were still some differences. Recently, I purchased all four seasons of the 2002-2004 adaption. The animation, sound effects, and story line are better, in my opinion. My son, like his father, loves He-man. He wanted me to draw battle cat for him. I did. Then, I thought of painting one of him sitting atop of battlecat. Below is a concept sketch of the idea.
